Operation Roaring Lion (and Epic Fury) against Iran entered its fifth day today as Israeli airstrikes continued deep inside Iran, striking military infrastructure in Tehran and Isfahan and facilities tied to ballistic missile production and other strategic assets, including regime assets and the IRGC commander who directed the assassination attempt against President Trump.
The joint U.S.- Israel strikes have significantly degraded Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, and the number of missiles that they are firing has noticeably dropped since the start of the war. But they still keep firing at targets throughout the region. The entire Iranian navy is at the bottom of the sea.
An Israeli F-35 shot down an Iranian fighter plane over Tehran today. It is the first time an F-35 has destroyed a plane in aerial combat, and the first time since 1982 that an Israeli fighter jet has shot down a plane in combat.
Turkey’s Defense Ministry said NATO air defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile headed toward Turkish territory. According to the ministry, missile debris was located in southern Turkey, not far from the Syrian border.
Israel continues to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Earlier today, missiles were fired from Hezbollah and Iran at central Israel, in the first coordinated attack of its kind. All the missiles were intercepted, but shrapnel fell in some areas causing damage.
According to the IDF, more than 250 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon have been struck so far during the current escalation. Among the targets were rocket launchers, command centers, weapons depots and senior Hezbollah terrorists. Israeli strikes also targeted headquarters belonging to the Islamist group Jamaa Islamiya, an organization linked to Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood, in the Lebanese city of Sidon.
