IDF forces eliminated a senior Hezbollah commander in south Lebanon yesterday. Today Hezbollah fired 60 rockets targeting the IDF air traffic control base on Mt. Meron. Most of the rockets were intercepted and some fell in open areas. Some minor damage was reported in the area. IDF forces responded with artillery barrages at targets in south Lebanon.
The IDF identified the first soldier killed in the ground offensive in Rafah as Sergeant Ira Yair Gispan, 19, of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 75th Battalion, from Petah Tikva, who died in an operational accident the day before. Three other soldiers were injured in the same incident.
Fighting continues in eastern Rafah, where IDF forces have eliminated dozens of terrorists.
IDF forces entered the center of Jabaliya, in Gaza City, today. Several rockets were launched from Jabaliya into Sderot today. The rocket attacks on Sderot were launched from a location just a few hundred feet away from where the Paratroopers Brigade was operating. One of the rockets hit an unoccupied building. Two women were injured while seeking shelter during the rocket attacks. Intense fighting continues.
The IDF said that the Air Force attacked and destroyed about 80 terrorist targets over the last day, including military compounds, weapons storage facilities, missile launchers, observation posts and additional sites used for terrorist activity.
According to a WSJ report, the Biden administration is proposing a $1 billion arms package for Israel that would not include the 2,000 pound bombs that Biden threatened to withhold. The package includes the potential transfer of tank ammunition worth $700 million, armored tactical vehicles worth $500 million and mortars worth $60 million. Meanwhile, the White House announced that Biden would veto a bill by House Republicans designed to obligate Washington to transfer military aid to Israel without delay.
