The IDF carried out a precision strike on Hamas terrorists inside an underground command center beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis yesterday. The primary target of the strike was Mohammed Sinwar, head of Hamas’ military wing and brother of its former leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar. Air Force fighter jets dropped approximately 40 bunker-busting bombs, similar to the strike on Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. More strikes in the area were carried out today. Security officials said they were still gathering information to confirm whether Mohammed Sinwar was killed in the strikes. The IDF also struck targets in Jabalia, in northern Gaza, after 3 rockets were fired towards Ashkelon and the border region. In southern Lebanon, the IDF eliminated a Hezbollah commander in a drone strike on his vehicle.
The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson issued a new warning today for civilians to avoid three ports in Yemen following a Houthi missile strike on Israel earlier in the day. The message said, “An important and repeated warning to all those present in the seaports controlled by the terrorist Houthi regime. Rass Isa Port, Hodeidah Port Al-Salif Port. We urge you to evacuate these ports until further notice. Due to the terrorist Houthi regime’s use of seaports for its terrorist activities, we urge all those present at these locations to leave and stay away for your own safety. Evacuating these ports will keep you safe.”
Israel has conveyed messages to the Trump administration opposing the potential sale of F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey. During a joint press conference last month at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his fondness for Erdogan, saying, “I love him and he loves me. I told the prime minister: Bibi, if you have a problem with Turkey, I’ll help you solve it.” Meanwhile, Israel and Turkey have held two rounds of dialogue in Baku, Azerbaijan, focusing on the situation in Syria, with Azerbaijan acting as mediator. The U.S. has not been involved in those discussions, and no progress has been reported so far.
Yesterday, French President Macron condemned Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policy regarding humanitarian aid to Gaza saying, “What he’s doing is shameful,” and “My job is to do everything I can to make it stop.” He said Europe should consider imposing sanctions against Israel. In response, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement saying, “Macron has once again chosen to stand with a murderous Islamist terrorist organization and echo its despicable propaganda, accusing Israel of blood libels. Israel is engaged in a multi-front war for its very existence following the horrific massacre committed by Hamas against innocent people on October 7th, including the murder and kidnapping of dozens of French nationals. Instead of supporting the Western democratic camp fighting the Islamist terrorist organizations and calling for the release of the hostages, Macron is once again demanding that Israel surrender and reward terrorism. Israel will not stop and will not surrender.”
