U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee will join the American delegation for the next round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon, set to take place today in Washington. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also expected to take part. Israel and Lebanon will again be represented by their respective ambassadors to the U.S. The 10 day ceasefire is reportedly in grave danger of falling apart, as a result of continuous violations by Hezbollah, including a drone launch into Israel on Independence Day and rocket fire at IDF forces in southern Lebanon. The IDF responded to the violations with strikes against the perpetrators. The U.S. wants the ceasefire to continue, since it is a factor in the ceasefire and negotiations with Iran.
Meanwhile, 2 French soldiers serving with the UN peace keepers were killed in a Hezbollah attack in southern Lebanon. Three other UN soldiers were wounded.
A 4-year-old boy was lightly wounded today in a stone-throwing attack on the car he was riding in, in northern Samaria. The IDF said it had launched searches for the terrorist and imposed a cordon on the village of Madama, south of Nablus.
