News Update
Today is Yom Hazikaron, the day Israel remembers and honors over 25,000 fallen soldiers, police and security forces along with over 5,000 civilian victims of terror, including the hundreds brutally murdered on Oct. 7. A two-minute siren sounded across the country at 11am, followed by state memorial services at the country’s 53 military cemeteries nationwide, attended by bereaved families, public figures and representatives of the government, police and the security forces. The main service was held at the national military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, where Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke.
Last night a 1 minute siren sounded at 8pm. An annual state ceremony was held at the Western Wall in honor of the dead, attended by the country’s top officials. President Herzog, wearing a torn shirt, addressed the nation. To read his full speech, click here. Shortly after the siren, rockets were fired at southern communities from Gaza. In the north, several attack drones exploded, causing damage and 2 anti-tank missiles were fired, wounding 3 IDF soldiers.
The fighting in Gaza and the north continues, and 128 hostages are still in Hamas captivity, as we remember the ultimate sacrifice paid by so many brave heroes to defend and sustain the State of Israel. Let us all say a prayer for their souls and ask God to bring our hostages home and peace to our homeland.
