A rocket fired by Hezbollah as part of a large barrage hit a car in the Golan, killing husband and wife Noa and Nir Baranes. The 46 year olds left behind 3 children. IDf jets struck Hezbollah air defense targets deep in Lebanon and in southern Lebanon overnight.
Hezbollah released a new propaganda video featuring detailed drone footage of Israeli military bases in the Golan, as well as Iron Dome batteries and electronic listening posts and ending with images of an unnamed Israeli coastal city.
IDF Soldiers Killed in Gaza:
Sgt. First Class Tal Lahat, 21, a fighter in the Maglan commando unit, from Kfar Saba. Lahat was killed in a raid on UNRWA’s headquarters in Gaza City, which the IDF said was being used as a base for attacks. Troops killed several terrorists and discovered a large cache of weapons. The latest fighting in Gaza City has been called the most intense since the start of the war. Troops are also operating in Rafah, killing terrorists and destroying tunnels.
Regarding the ongoing military mission in Gaza, IDF Chief of Staff Halevi said, “We go on missions to destroy as much infrastructure as possible, kill as many Hamas terrorists as possible, kill as many commanders as possible. In the end, it lowers the capabilities of Hamas, allows us to move forward with the achievements, allows us to carry out a very important task – pressure – we will not stop to return the hostages either.”
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that the IDF will start drafting ultra-Orthodox Israelis in the next few weeks.
Speaking to the Knesset today, Defense Minister Gallant said that 60% of Hamas terrorists in Gaza have been killed or wounded since the start of the ground war and that the IDF has killed 14,000 terrorists.
Hostage negotiation are proceeding today in Qatar, after significant progress was reportedly made yesterday. a senior Israeli source was quoted by Channel 12 news Tuesday night as saying that “Egyptian reports of progress are premature,” and cautioning that “difficult and complex negotiations are expected.” The unnamed source also noted that, “there are still unresolved issues to deal with that are not simple.” However, the source also said that, “an immense effort will be made to achieve a breakthrough,” and “there is a genuine opportunity to reach a deal. The goal is to produce the best deal possible within a few weeks.”
