The IDF said it had attacked a terror command and control base in the Jabaliya refugee camp, inside what Palestinian media claims was a UNRWA clinic. The IDF said, “The terrorists were hiding inside a command and control center that was being used for coordinating terrorist activity and served as a central meeting point for the terrorist organization. Additionally, the compound was used by the Hamas’ Jabaliya Battalion to plan terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops. Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.”
IDF operations in Gaza have expanded, following intense overnight airstrikes and artillery cover fire. The Defense Minister said the campaign aims to dismantle Hamas infrastructure and secure broader buffer zones to protect Israeli forces and nearby communities. He said, “Operation Strength and Sword in Gaza is expanding. Its goal is to crush and cleanse the area of terrorists and terror infrastructure and to seize wide areas that will be annexed to Israel’s security zones.” He called on Gaza residents to “act now to expel Hamas and return all hostages. This is the only way to end the war.”
Negotiations for a hostage release continue. Israel is calling for the return of 11 living hostages and half the bodies of the dead, as per Steve Witkoff’s original proposal. Hamas is offering to release five hostages in exchange for a 50-day ceasefire—one hostage per 10 days—without returning bodies.
Israeli intelligence said that the strike yesterday that eliminated a senior Hezbollah terrorists averted an imminent, large scale, terror attack that he was planning to launch abroad, that could have killed hundreds of Israelis. The strike also dealt a significant blow to the collaboration between Hezbollah and Hamas beyond Israel’s borders.
The Pentagon announced yesterday that more U.S. warplanes were being deployed to the Middle East. This comes after several U.S. strikes against the Houthis and threats to bomb Iran if it does not agree to stop developing nuclear weapons. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement, “Should Iran or its proxies threaten American personnel and interests in the region, the United States will take decisive action to defend our people.” For more, click here.
Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced that he has registered a new political party under the provisional name “Bennett 2026”. Recent polls indicate that Bennett could do well if new elections are held.
Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich signed an order cancelling Israeli tariffs on imports from the US. The order requires approval from the Knesset finance Committee. The tariffs are mainly on agricultural produce and are relatively insignificant.
