Israeli officials stressed that Israel would prevent Iran from rearming Hezbollah in Lebanon or the Syrian army or sending troops to reinforce the Syrians. Israel reportedly struck targets along the Syria-Lebanon border this morning. In Gaza this week, Israeli airstrikes eliminated several Hamas commanders who participated in the October 7 massacre. IDF operations continue in Gaza.
The Shin Bet announced that it arrested a father and son from the Druze village of Mas’ade on the Golan Heights suspected of Spying for Iran. They collected intelligence on military deployment and activity in the area and passed it along to an Iranian journalist living in Damascus and working for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Cyprus has purchased Israel’s Barak MX air defense system, capable of intercepting threats up to 150 kilometers (95 miles) away. The Barak MX, produced by Israel Aerospace Industries, is designed for land and sea use. It includes various interceptors capable of targeting aircraft, helicopters, drones, anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles and certain ballistic missiles within ranges of 2 to 150 kilometers. The Israeli Navy also uses the system.
The U.S. State Department dismissed claims raised in an Amnesty International report alleging that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel told a press briefing, “We have said previously and continue to find the allegations of genocide are unfounded.”
Five Israeli members of the Breslav Hassidic sect were killed in a car crash near Ouarzazate in Morocco. They were on a pilgrimage visiting the gravesites of great rabbis.
