News Update
The IDF struck a drone storage facility used by Hezbollah’s aerial unit, in Beirut’s Dahieh district today. Residents of the building were warned to evacuate prior to the attack. The attack came after 2 rockets were fired at Kiryat Shemona from Lebanon. One was intercepted and the other did not enter Israeli airspace. The IDF also shelled Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon following the attack. Hezbollah denied firing the rockets.
Israel’s Supreme Court unanimously rejected petitions from left-wing and human rights organizations demanding that the government expand humanitarian aid to Gaza during the ongoing war after it made extensive cuts. Chief Justice Yitzhak Amit ruled that Israel has fulfilled its obligations under international law and therefore dismissed the case.
Hamas has decided not to appoint a replacement for Issam al-Da’alis, Hamas’s political Gazan prime minister, who was killed by the IDF last week. [Tough job to fill. Very short life expectancy. No candidates?]
i24news Arab affairs commentator Zvi Yehezkeli claims that the protests against Hamas were actually orchestrated by Hamas, most likely to send a message to the world that Gazan’s see their future in Gaza, in opposition to the Trump proposal to evacuate them. The fact that the protests are against Hamas doesn’t bother them, because Hamas knows that it is still in firm control over Gaza’s population. He said, “If the world buys this, Hamas has done its part because it is essentially looking ahead. It sees Trump’s plan that threatens to remove it and the Gazan citizens from the Gaza Strip and comes and says to the world: look, there are people who oppose me, there are sane people in Gaza – leave them alone. When they hear Israel’s threats to evict everyone from the northern Gaza Strip – these protests serve Hamas and do not threaten it.”
Two 17-year-old Jewish shepherds were attacked this morning by a mob of Palestinians with clubs and stones, on Mount Hebron. The boys suffered injuries to the head and body and were evacuated to the hospital. So far, 22 suspects who took an active part in the incident have been arrested.
