IDF forces eliminated 3 terrorists, wounded one and arrested 10 others in a counter-terror operation in Jenin. A senior Hezbollah terrorist was killed in a drone strike in southern Lebanon. And 5 terrorists were killed in a drone strike in central Gaza.
Security officials estimate that 80% of the thousands of terrorists released in the hostage deal will resume terror activities. Many of the released prisoners are experienced terrorists with the knowledge and networks to reestablish terrorist cells, secure funding and weapons, and recruit new terrorists. Security officials have also noted a significant increase in the flow of weapons and funds into the West Bank, heightening the threat of terror attacks. The IDF is continuing to operate against terror cells in northern Samaria, including Jenin, and is killing and arresting many terrorists, but other terrorists are leaving the area and setting up shop in other locations outside of the IDF’s dragnet. IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir has canceled all routine holiday leaves for soldiers, saying the army must remain on alert year-round in the wake of Oct. 7.
The current proposal spearheaded by U.S. envoy Witkoff at the Doha negotiations calls for the release of 10 living hostages, including American Idan Alexander and 9 others who are being tortured, and the extension of the ceasefire through Ramadan and Passover, the resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, and the release of hundreds of terrorists from Israeli prisons.
