Israel’s Elbit Systems has signed a 2.3 billion dollar contract with the UAE to sell a “strategic security system” based on a “unique and groundbreaking technology.” It’s Elbit’s largest sale ever, and Israel’s second largest arms export, behind the 4.2 billion Euros Arrow missile system sold to Germany in 2023.
The U.S. has reportedly asked Israel to give the Lebanese more time to disarm Hezbollah, which is supposed to be accomplish by the end of this year, according to the ceasefire agreement. But the Lebanese Army doesn’t seem to have the power to get the job done, despite its willingness to do so. The U.S. has warned Lebanon that if they cannot disarm Hezbollah, it will not be able to restrain Israel from doing it for them, the hard way. The subject will undoubtedly be discussed when Prime Minister Netanyahu meets with President Trump in Maro Lago in a couple of weeks. I’m sure they’ll also discuss the disarming of Hamas, which doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen without IDF intervention.
A private Canadian delegation that included 6 members of Canada’s parliament, was prevented by Israel from entering the West Bank. The delegation was sponsored by the group The Canadian-Muslim Vote, which is linked to Islamic Relief Worldwide, a nongovernmental organization that Israel lists as a terror group. The Israeli Embassy statement said Israel “will not allow the entry of organizations and individuals who are associated with designated terror entities.”
